Why is CPAP the best option for obstructive sleep apnea?

CPAP stands for continuous positive airway pressure. It is the gold standard for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea(OSA). The reason it is first line treatment is that it is effective 100% of the time for OSA. Once a patient is able to tolerate the mask and get used to the equipment, it is effective the minute they use to the minute they wake up. Once the patient is successfully able to use it throughout the night, the treatment is very satisfying due to the fact they will feel so much more rested, the snoring stops(bed partner is usually ecstatic!), and the positive health effects enjoyed.

It has no serious side effects. Nasal congestion and other side effects which you can review on our faq section are easily alleviated with meeting with us and we can give you suggestions, or alter your humidity or CPAP unit to find the one that is most comfortable.

Because the CPAP blows air, there is no medication involved. It is simply air from the room that is taken in through the CPAP unit via a filter which needs to be cleaned periodically. The CPAP units are very small and easily portable.

We have been providing a full service trial of CPAP units since 1998. Mainland has a lot of experience in helping sleep apnea patients. If you need advice or have any questions, please call us and we will try our best to help.
